On World No Tobacco Day 2026, the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) calls for stronger and more progressive tobacco control policies to protect present and future generations from the negative impacts of tobacco use. Highlighting the theme “Unmasking the appeal – countering nicotine and tobacco addiction,” the media conference emphasizes the urgent need to address tobacco industry interference, strengthen public health safeguards, and advance measures such as increased tobacco taxation, plain packaging, and the Tobacco-Free Generation policy in Sri Lanka.
