Strategic Intervention Programme

The objectives of the Strategic Intervention (SI) Programme are to,

• Identify and neutralize influences that promote alcohol, tobacco and other drug use
• Create a social milieu in which alcohol, tobacco and other drug use is discouraged
• Prevent initiation of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use

SI programme conducts different types of campaigns and awareness programmes island-wide with the participation and support of volunteers, CBOs and GOs to achieve the above objectives. A continued commitment to public education is essential for changing the publics’ attitude on tobacco and alcohol. The SI team also acts as a watch dog in observing industry strategies to counterattack these strategies effectively.
