Our Courses
The Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) conducts courses for different target groups, including youth, media persons, and government officials, focusing on various topics such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention, policy advocacy, counseling, etc. We have carefully designed these courses in order to develop the skills and capacity of the target groups, and propagate our mission of preventing drug use through social change and effective education.
Community Empowerment on Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs, and Internship Program 2024
From May to July 2024, the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) conducted our inaugural Community Empowerment on Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs and Internship Program. The objective of initiating this course was to develop new resource persons in the field of alcohol, tobacco and other drug control and prevention. We initially received 120 applications, and after a thorough selection process and orientation, 52 participants embarked on this journey.
Through weekly Zoom training sessions and engaging field tasks, 45 dedicated individuals successfully completed the course and earned their certificates. A unique feature of this course is that it not only discussed theory but also required participants to complete field tasks related to the discussed topics, allowing them to use their knowledge in a practical manner.
The topics that were discussed in this course are as follows:
- Situation analysis.
- The magnitude of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug problems.
- Reasons why people initiate and continue using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs despite knowing the harms.
- The influence of the alcohol, tobacco, and other drug industries.
- Community change strategies and approaches.
- Day-to-day life prevention activities.
On July 16th, 2024, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our first batch of the community empowerment and internship program at the certificate ceremony held at ADIC premises.
