I realized that selling cigarettes was not profitable. Therefore, I stopped selling them

My name is W.G. Sepali. I am a member of the Janashakthi Bank in Bandagiriya. I run a grocery store where I used to sell cigarettes. The head of the Janashakthi association Miss Indika showed me how selling cigarettes cause more harm than good to the people. After explaining all the pros and cons of selling cigarettes, she requested me to stop.

Although there was only a small profit from cigarette sales, I had to think twice about my decision as my husband was a regular smoker which was further affecting the very little profit I had through its sales. Eventually, I decided to stop. I had to face a lot of problems especially when I say that I do not sell cigarettes anymore. Some people refused to buy their groceries when they found out that I stopped selling cigarettes. Despite all this negativity, I did not regret my decision. I also started educating my customers about the negatives of smoking. I am pleased with my decision to stop selling cigarettes and I feel that I did a great deal to society.
