Design for change’.

CMB Volunteers, a group under the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre, formed to reduce the alcohol and drug demand among youth, organized a design festival for the Elixier ’13 fashion show.

The target group was young and creative Designers, Celebrities, Media personalities in the fashion & designing field. The aim of this design festival was to create awareness and to promote the prevention of alcohol and tobacco usage among the youth specifically in the fashion world.

Designers from various institutes took part in the workshops held and the most talented 12 were selected for the final round to display their creativity.

The participants had designed to the theme of Prevention slogans: awareness on alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention.

THEMES FOR THE COMPETITION WERE:

  • I’m updated, Smoking is outdated.
  • I’m a party dancer, not a lousy drinker.
  • I don’t smell, I don’t smoke.
  • Who said alcohol is fun?
  • Drinkers are outdated, occasional drinkers are occasionally outdated.

The winner was selected by a panel of reputable judges: Designer Michael Wijesuriya, Former Ms. Sri Lanka Ms. Nadeeka Perera and Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Mahesh Rajasuriya.
